Maximizing your new, fitness-oriented lifestyle often necessitates working out at home. Gathering the necessary stuff for a decent home gym can cost a lot of money. It is important to plan your purchases and space them out.
Treadmills have become so synonymous with indoor fitness that many try to buy this machine first. This may not be the best idea, because although treadmills do provide an excellent and efficient aerobic workout, these things are definitely not cheap.
If you don’t want to blow your entire budget on just one piece of exercise equipment, you may what to start a bit smaller. Aerobic riders are great machines for beginners, and they are quite affordable. Second-hand models can be bought for as little as $50.
Strength training is an important component of any fitness regimen, so you will need to invest in some weights. Molded plastic dumbbells are a good inexpensive choice. You can get a few pairs of different weights to start. Eventually though you will end up wanting the more versatile scalable type of free weights. These are composed of weighted plates that allow you to increase weight by just adding them on.
If you are willing to invest more in your fitness equipment, then why not take a look at weight machines or a home gym system? Choose a model with the capability for multiple types of exercise to avoid boredom. Try out some of the equipment in a local gym so you can get a better idea of what you will really need.
Decent weight machines are around $300 to $500, and really good ones will be upwards of a thousand. It may seem like a lot of money, but in the long run it is worth it. A well-designed model will allow you to exercise pretty much all the muscle groups in your body and will have enough options for a number of different exercises. Some models even incorporate a rower or stationary bike.
Elliptical machines are another great option for an aerobic workout. You can exercise not just your heart and legs, but for some models you can get arm and back workouts as well. These may cost a lot, but the potential benefits are worth it.
Ski machines are another great item to get for your home gym, either instead of or in addition to you other equipment. You do not need to be a big ski professional to learn how to do the motions, and the workout is pretty intense. It may be mostly your legs working, but arm movements are incorporated as well.
When making decisions about which type of equipment to buy, the foremost consideration should not really be money, but your individual taste. There is no use spending money on something you will not want to use. Pick activities that you will want to do everyday and you will definitely get your money’s worth.
After all, the majority of people who fail to maintain their fitness regimen do so because they lost their drive. This may have its roots in many things. Some may have gotten injured or gotten bored, others might have gotten busier with work. Whatever the case, putting a lot of thought and effort into outfitting your home gym will be a great incentive for you to stay motivated.
