I want to try a martial art but I'm too shy to join a club?

I watched some videos and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I would not mind to learn, but I'm too shy to join a club because I do not know anyone, etc. I'm not the most comfortable with people … What can I do? My main reason for trying is a better form and self-defense, I'm not big but I am far from being fit and I'd do anything to benefit benefit me also another way (in this case learning to defend myself against an attacker).

Hi, Just do not care. Okay, I admit into a new place where everyone knows eachother is nerve-wracking, but in my experience (over 23 years as a student and the last 8 as a teacher) of art martial are very friendly and courteous. Firstly, there will probably be much higher grades that have been trained for some time at the club – Do not be intimidated by this – they will be there to love and pleasure they derive from their training and their own personal reasons, and they will be more than happy to show you and teach you. No one will ask you to do something beyond your skill level and build you up and allow you to practice your technique on them, like any rank higher would do for them. Secondly, there will probably be a good amount of starters – like you – who will probably so nervous and conscious self. They are just as welcoming, showing you the ropes etc., but it will be too busy concentrating on their own techniques, their own training, to worry about what others are doing! ; D Martial Arts is perhaps one of the best ways to gain confidence and meet new people, and you have the advantage of meeting new friends – and I know I'm a little biased here – generally decent, honest, honest people. The type of friends you want in your life. Finally But why limit yourself to Ju Jitsu? I'm not knocking in any way, it is an excellent system and that you enjoy it. However, why not try some traditional Japanese Ju Jitsu Judo schools or too much? This will allow you to train very similar in art, but also give you the advantage of a whole system of traditions, philosophies, history, etc. that you can enjoy? Good luck with your training, follow him and he will reward you ten.
